Harandane Dicko

Born in 1978 in Tonka, near Timbuktu, Mali, Harandane Dicko lives and works in Bamako. After studying social sciences, Harandane Dicko studied photography at the Cadre de Promotion pour la Formation en Photographie [Centre for Photographic Education] (CFP) in Bamako. In 2002 he did an internship at the newspaper Der Landbote in Winterthur, Switzerland. In 2006 he held a residency at the PROGR: Zentrum für Kulturproduktion [PROGR: Centre for Cultural Production] in Bern, Switzerland, and in 2008 he held one at the Centre d’Enseignement Professionnel [Centre for Professional Education] (CEPV) in Vevey, Switzerland. In 2008 he was also resident at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris as well as at La Métive, in La Creuse, France, as part of an international residency organised by Afriqueinvisu.

Harandane Dicko is a member of the Djabugusso photographers’ collective in Bamako. Apart from his artistic career, he is a photographic consultant for UNICEF in Mali, Niger, Chad and Congo, and works with international organisations such as WHO, UNPD and the European Union. His photographic work has been exhibited in a variety of European and African countries since 2004.

His numerous works include the following series: The mirror (2013-2014), The Korèdugaw: Symbols of a philosophy of Life in Mali (2013), Disaffection (2008), The mosquito net (2005-2008).
