Born in 1980 in Dakar, Omar Victor Diop started off working in business and finance communication. His photographic work began with the project Fashion 2112: The Future of Beauty, which was selected for the Rencontres africaines de la photographie [African Photography Encounters] in Bamako (‘A Sustainable World’) in 2011. Since then, Omar Victor Diop has achieved international renown in the media, as well as though numerous solo and group exhibitions.
In his photographic work, essentially focused on the portrait, Diop is inspired by local aesthetics as well as global movements. He is part of an emerging generation of cultural creators in Dakar. As a photographer, Diop has also achieved international renown in the fashion world.
His many works include the following series: ONOMOllywood, [re-]Mixing Hollywood (with Antoine Tempé, 2013), followed by The Studio of Vanities (since 2014), Project Diaspora (Self-portraits) (since 2014) and Shift+Alt+Ego (2014).
