Born in 1976 in Ndoulo, Senegal, Mamadou Gomis lives and works in Dakar. He has been a photographer since 1992 and since 1999 a reporter for a variety of newspapers, press agencies as well as humanitarian organisations in Senegal and neighbouring countries. Today Mamadou Gomis runs his own press organ, Times24.info, accompanied by the bi-monthly Times24LeJournal, for which he is in charge of images. He has participated in a number of exhibitions such as Snap Judgements, New York, 2006; Africa Now, Washington, 2006; Africalls, Las Palmas, 2007; Trace de Vie [Trace of Life], Village des Arts. Dakar, 2009; Africa.es, Madrid, 2011; the touring exhibition Prêt à partager [Ready to Share] (Maputo, Lagos, Douala, Addis Ababa, Cape Town, Dakar, Berlin and Stuttgart, 2009-2014); Chronique d’une Révolte: Photographies d’une saison de protestation [Chronicle of a Revolt : Photographs of a Season of Protest], Dakar and Berlin, 2012; Dakar/Berlin, which was accompanied by workshops in a number of cities in Africa, in partnership with the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen [Institute for Foreign Relations], 2012; Photorek, Aula Cervantes, Dakar, 2012; Kaleidoscope, Dublin, 2013; Le piéton de Dakar [Dakar Pedestrian], Galerie Le Manège, Dakar, 2013; Gardes, à Vous! [Atten-tion!], Institut Français, Dakar, 2013; and Gardiens du temple [Guardians of the Temple], Goethe Institut, Dakar, 2014.
